How to Initiate Public Involvement in Health Research: Launch of the ‘Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE)’ Toolkit
How can a patient advisory group be established for research? Where can potential members be identified? What does a compensation policy for public contributors look like, and where should the process begin? The Ziauddin University Patient & Public Involvement and Engagement group in Pakistan has developed a toolkit to address these questions. The toolkit provides practical guidance and ready-to-use templates covering all stages of setting up a public involvement initiative in health research. On 31 March, the toolkit will be launched internationally. The event will include an introduction from the development team in Pakistan, presentations from researchers in Pakistan, Ireland, India, and Japan who have piloted the toolkit, and an opportunity for discussion, questions, and feedback. The launch webinar will outline how the toolkit can support the initiation of public involvement initiatives in health research across different global contexts.
