Troubling Participatory Research
How do we get value-led collaborations off the ground? Bringing together researchers to explore turning ideas into participatory research
How do we get value‑led collaborations off the ground?
Partnering with “experts by experience” is increasingly vital across health, environmental and technological research yet recognising lived expertise in an equal partnership can trouble traditional research frameworks. This meeting explores how we begin research partnerships that can navigate complex power dynamics and “stay with the trouble”, especially when working on sensitive or controversial topics.
The day will bring together university and community researchers. We will share our experiences of turning ideas like power sharing, mutual benefit, and trust into real world research. We will explore how treating these values as contested concepts can become the guiding principle for research that respects all forms of knowledge
Please note: This is an ‘in person’ meeting only – there will be no recording or Zoom/Teams link.
